Sheetrock and SMART goals

Happy 2016, loyal readers.

As you can tell, we are starting to sheetrock Lena #1.

The students spent a class period going over the assembly, safety, and operation of the sheetrock lift and now they are using it to install the sheetrock on the ceiling.

Accurate measurement is critical as there are many can lights and angles for the vaulted ceilings that need to be accounted for.

One of the most annoying things in the world is to hoist a heavy sheet of rock over ones head to find out you measured it incorrectly... Not that that ever happens with our crew... but we have heard stories of other peoples difficulties.

On Monday immediately after break, we spent 15 minutes developing SMART goals. We discussed the importance and power of effective goal setting, and students each developed 1-3 personal goals each in regards to house build, school in general, or an extracurricular activity.

I will check in with them in February, March, and May to see if they are working in a direction that will lead them to success in reaching their goals.

I am really impressed with the thought that went into developing these goals and am looking forward to the results!
